The training activities were conducted with the participation of experts from the Health Branch Directorate of our university`s Health, Culture and Sports Department. Informative presentations were given to the students on "Fighting Against Addiction" and "Technology Addiction."
In the first part of the program, Expert Psychologist Elif Ayten Kayar focused on the definition of addiction, the causes leading to addiction, and psychological risk factors. Kayar emphasized that addictions are not limited to substance use, and that behavioral addictions also have serious effects on young people. Students were provided comprehensive information on the importance of early awareness, developing safe lifestyle habits, and preventative measures that can be implemented in the fight against addiction.
In the second part of the training, Psychologist Ali Muti Çekirge provided information on "Technology Addiction." Çekirge emphasized that increased screen time in the digital age can impact young people`s academic, social, and psychological lives. Students were informed about the symptoms of technology addiction, risk groups, the consequences of uncontrolled internet and gaming use, and recommendations for healthy technology use. They also emphasized the importance of being mindful when taking advantage of the digital world.
Officials stated that the training sessions aimed to raise university students` awareness, prevent risky behaviors, and provide access to accurate information about addiction. The program will continue with sessions for different student groups throughout the semester.
